On Monday April 27th, 2026 NPDL.org proudly staged a historic cellblock debate in Connecticut between two powerhouse teams. The Fulton Debating Society of Boston College traveled to Cheshire Correctional Institution to face the undefeated T.R.U.E. Unit debate team. Academic analysis versus lived experience clashed brilliantly on the subject of prison labor policy as both teams offered insightful arguments. The entire cellblock looked on approvingly while offering respectful nods and cheers at their squad’s articulate representation on this highly relevant issue. After all, prison labor isn’t a theoretical concept to those living it out in real-time behind the walls on a daily basis. Boston College and T.R.U.E. debaters gave the audience and judges plenty of interesting perspectives to think about. What do you think about this topic?
